    What is a Licensed Mortgage Professional?

    A Licensed Mortgage Professional must meet the following:

  • Pass a national test
  • Pass a state test
  • Satisfy a 20 hour core class
  • Maintain education credits of 8 hours yearly
  • Pass a financial and criminal background check
  • Posses financial responsibility: acceptable credit, net worth, and bonding
  • Be registered on NMLS (National Mortgage Licensing System)

    • Loan officers at banks are NOT required to meet these standards.
